Bhrigu Lake Trek

Fixed Departure -

The Bhrigu Lake trek near Manali is one of the area’s best medium-duration treks that takes you over diverse scenery in the span of 3 days.

Bhrigu Lake is believed to be the meditation grounds of Maharishi Bhrigu, the great sage in Hindu mythology who created the Bhrigu Samhita -the foundation of Hindu astrology.

Because of its special place in ancient Hindu lore, the lake is highly revered and it is a sacred spot for the people of Manali and Himachal Pradesh. The fact that the high-altitude lake never freezes – even in peak winter – endorses the belief that there’s something magical and unexplainable in the air here.

Located at an altitude of 14000ft – around half the height of Mount Everest – to the south of Rohtang Pass, Bhrigu Lake is a unique wonder of nature. While most mountain lakes are located down on river or glacier beds, Bhrigu Lake is situated on a high mountain ridge, which makes it unique.

It is an uphill climb on gentle slopes to the lake. As you ascend, the surrounding mountain ridges seem to rise higher with you.

Even in the summer months of April, May and June, the lake and its surroundings is mostly snow-covered. So it gives you a good experience of snow trekking.

The Bhrigu Lake trek offers a panoramic view of Manali valley. All the famous peaks of Kullu-Manali Himalaya— Indrasan, Deo Tibba, Hanuman Tibba, Makerbeh, Shikarbeh, Shitidhar, Friendship Peak, and Ladakhi – are visible, making it an excellent trek for photographers as well.
